Manicures for July

It's already gonna be the end of August and here I'm, just updating about my manicures for the month of July. Yes that is how slow I am. Better late than never right?

This was what I wore before I went for my Perth road trip. The black and gold strips were actually nail decals. Omg, I can't believe two months had already passed since my road trip. Time really flies.

I bought all of these at the Perth airport. From left: Yodel me on my cell, A grape fit!, Save me, Metallic 4 life, Glitzerland, Turquoise shatter. This picture is quite true to the real colour except for Yodel. Yodel is more of a dark turquoise colour.

Since I had bought new polishes, of course I must try out all of them right? So most of the manicures for this post were basically experimenting all these new polishes.

This is Save Me. It's a mixed of holographic strip glitters with small round sliver glitters.

Turquoise shatter layered on top of 2 coats of Gliterzland.

Yodel on my cell + A grape fit. Lines are not straight because I was lazy to use tape.

I'd tried all the new polishes that I bought except for Metallic 4 life. Think that bottle sort of slipped out of my mind. Will use it next time though.

Ending this post with a simple manicure. This manicure had a meaning, if you know what I mean. Lol.

What I wore for my Perth road trip

During the second half of June, I went on a road trip with a group of my friends. From the moment we booked our air tickets, I had been super excited about it.

One thing that I kept thinking about was what to wear for the trip (typical thoughts of any vain girl). It was a good chance to wear all my leather jacket and boots since Perth was in winter season, something which I seldom wear in humid Singapore. But I still love buying these kind of stuffs even though I seldom wear them.

So here are my coordinates for the road trip~

Day 1:
This is what I wore throughout the 5hour+ flight. I do apologise for my out-of-shape + huge portion of black roots hair. Didn't had time to go to the hair salon.

(Top and shorts: Bangkok,Thailand. Leggings: Uniqlo. Fringe boots: from Hong Kong)

Day 2:
Had a long bus ride from Perth to Geraldton.

(Jacket: Forever 21. Beige blouse and leggings: Uniqlo. Inner top with bottom lace trimmings: Qoo10. Shorts: Bangkok, Thailand)

After collecting our rented cars at Geraldton, we went to a lavender farm. Sadly it was closed on the day that we went. But that did not stop us from going in to take pictures =P

Day 3:
We went trekking at Kalburri today so I changed into my 'sports attire'.

One tip for everybody, if you have shoes or clothes that you do not want because they are old-looking or cause you don't wear them anymore, don't throw them away. Keep them for trips/outings like this where you can throw them afterwards and go home with a lighter luggage.

I specially wore my worn-out leggings, old shoes and t-shirt for this trek and threw them away when I reached back my apartment.

I do the same thing for my bra and panties that had become quite loose or old. I keep them for vacation trips where I can treat them like disposable underwear. This also help me to create more space in my luggage for shopping :)

Day 4:
Lots of sight-seeing and light activities for today so I could afford to wear a dress. That is the apartment we stayed at Kalburri.

(Jacket: Forever 21. Dress: Indiesin. Leggings: Uniqlo. Fringe boots: Hong Kong. Belt: Bangkok, Thailand. Sunglasses: Fareast Shopping Center)

Welcome to Shell Beach. The ground that you thought was sand are actually all seashells washed ashore over a long period of time.

Me trying to be funny and attempting a yoga pose.

Day 5:
Traveled from Kalburri to Monkey Mia, Sharkbay, to see this cutie. She was just swimming about a metre away from me.

My outfit for that day. Was holding on to a fallen crab's pincher.

(Jacket: Forever 21. Yellow blouse: Uniqlo. Inner wear with bottom lace trimmings: Qoo10. Boyfriend-cut jeans: Bangkok, Thailand. Sunglasses: Fareast shopping center)

Me and my friend lying down to enjoy the view and ponder about the meaning of life. Lol.

Day 6:
After watching dolphins and sharks at Sharkbay, we traveled back to Kalburri for more sight-seeing. Wore back the same outfit I wore on Day 4. Just changed things a little by zipping up my jacket instead of putting on a belt.

It was really cold and the wind was blowing crazily at this sight seeing spot.

Though I didn't have to drive throughout the trip (cause I do no know how to drive), but I feel equally tired. Probable age is catching up with me. Lol.

Shall end this post with my old-fashioned sleep wear. Lol.

After a long break

Firstly I must apologised for the lack of posts lately. I went for a 1 week holiday to Perth in June, with my girl pals and after that I had been busy with work and so many other stuffs that even in my free time, I just want to zonk out on my bed and enter slumberland.

But now things have been more settled so I've got more energy and time to spend blogging, which I am really grateful for. I have so many stuff that I experienced and wanna share with everyone. Will be updating real real soon :)

Bling Bling Earrings

A short post before I go back to my revision. My exams is in another 2 more days. Thought that I can squeeze in this happy news that brightened up my day.

The earrings I ordered from Gmarket, or rather Qoo10 as it is called now, had finally arrived.

It came in a cute cardboard box. The delivery time was about a week if I remember correctly. But definitely worth the wait.

Bought a total of 6 pairs and every single one of them is super bling bling. I just love sparkly stuffs.

A closer look at all of them. Most of them are just round studs cause I find them super easy to match and trust me, its hard for them to become old-fashion.

Out of all the round studs I like this the best. It consists of many different coloured gems, unlike the usual ones which are all the same coloured gems.

This cost SGD$6.30 excluding postage fees. It is considered a bit expensive for me but after seeing the real thing in person, I feel that the quality is worth it for the price paid.

I had bought before studs like this that cost like SGD$9 each (mind you, it is only for one, not even in a pair like this) but lasted me really long even though I did not really take good care of them. So I'm hoping that these will be as lasting too.

The rest of the one-colour round studs cost SGD$4.30.

I'm not usually a fan of big dangling earrings but when I saw this pair, I immediately fell in love with it. Don't you think that this pair just shouts out modern and sophisticated?

It is rare to find a pair of big dangling earrings that is versatile like this pair. This can match with outfits that are classy, funky, rugged, casual and the list goes on. This costs SGD$2.30 excluding postage fees.

I don't have many squarish earrings so I'm glad to add this pair to my collection. Trust me when I say the gems look a lot more sparkly in real life as compared to this photo.

As a matter of fact all the earrings shown look more sparkly in real life, just that my camera can't seem to capture the awesomeness. This one here costs SGD$4.30 excluding postage fee.

Here is the store on Qoo10 that I bought from:

There are so many other pretty and unique ones that I really liked but couldn't buy due to budget constrain.

That time when I bought all these, the discounted price was even cheaper at SGD$0.40 and non-registered mail was at SGD$1.50 only. So you can either wait for the price to drop again, or just buy at the current price before it goes up any further.

Haul for the week: Uniqlo and Indiesin

Just like to do a short post on my haul for this week.

I stepped into Uniqlo the other day and it was a wrong move cause it made me $70 poorer. Lol.

Anyway, Uniqlo is having a offer again, but this time round for it's tank tops. I bought 3 of them, a green stripped loose tank, one grey and one black tank with lace trimmings. For the ones with lace trimmings, they also have a variety of other colours that I really liked but they were quite see-through unlike these two that I have chosen.

All the 3 tank tops shown in the picture above cost SGD$9.90 each. The pair jeans was also at an offer price of SGD$39.90.

I think its like a confirm thing for me to spend money whenever I enter Uniqlo. They have different and super attractive special offers like almost every day. I should seriously distance myself from that shop, especially on days when I'm broke. Btw, I got all these from the outlet at Causeway Point shopping center.

I bought these 2 one-piece from an online shop called Indiesin. They were having a sale and I got these at a cheap price.

The cream-coloured dress cost me SGD$12.00 and the dark grey peter pan dress cost SGD$10.00. Cheap huh?

The front of the peter pan dress is very simple looking, but it's back has a surprise element. I love pleasant surprises :).

Cheap steal: Copy of the Ped Egg

I always feel proud of myself whenever I get a cheap deal.

Not sure if you guys remember this product that used to come out during TV commercial breaks. It's called 'Ped Egg'.

This is a picture to show you how it looks like if you have never seen it or forgotten how it looks. You can easily find this in some of the Guardian stores or 7-Eleven selling for like SGD$22.90.

I've seen some online shops selling it for like SGD$6.90 and SGD$4.90 but I think most of them are either imitations or a copy of the real thing.

Anyway, I got mine for only SGD$1.05. I should be awarded for getting such a cheap deal. This is even cheaper than those sold online.

Of course it looks different from the real Ped Egg but still it does the same functions. I bought this from the Value Dollar shop located at Causeway Point shopping center.

When you open up the package, these are the items inside. By the way, the two oval shaped black stuff you see at the left are emery papers which you used to further smooth your heel after the metal file.

Before your start using, you have to attach the metal part to the foot-shaped casing so that your dead skin can be captured with it. Its quite sturdy when the two parts are fixed together so you do not have to worry that they will come apart when you are using the product.

Please use this only when you are seated on a chair (or standing if you prefer) and not when you are lying down or sitting on the floor. The reason is because the metal part should always face upwards so that your dead skin will be caught in the casing and not flying around (think in terms of gravity law).

This is the amount of dead skin from my left foot. Please don't judge me base on this.

So anyway, the downside of this product is that you have to use a bit of force to separate the metal part from the casing. And there is also the worry of the inside contents flying out when you force open them.

But I rather that it is difficult to open up then the product coming off easily when I am using it. I can just open them up with a newspaper underneath to catch the fallouts, or open them in the sink and wash away the mess.

And also the metal part of this product is not curved like the Ped Egg but it still works fine for me.

Afterall, you can't expect 100%  goodness from a product that is 22 times cheaper than the real thing.

Hand Lotions

I would like to give a review on 2 different hand lotion that I had been using for some time.

The first product is Nivea's Express Hydration and the second is Vaseline's Healthy Hand and Nail. I bought the both of them from Watsons.

Let's start off with the Nivea's Express Hydration.

Price: SGD$6.60
Quantity: 100ml
Smell: Like any other normal cream lotion smell, not unpleasant.

Bought it because:
I was outside and I needed a hand cream desperately as I could not stand the dryness of my hand. Must be caused by those moisture-sucking hand soaps at the public toilets. So I went into Watsons and decided to grab this since Nivea is well known for their moisturising lotions.

My verdict: 7 / 10 points

The main reason why I picked this up was because I was attracted by it's promise of fast absorption. Since my purpose of buying at that point of time is to use it on the go, it is important that the lotion absorbs fast into my skin. If it does not than there will be this oily/sticky feeling on everything that I touch after applying the lotion.

Sadly, this product has that oily/sticky aftermath. Maybe because the texture of the lotion is a little on the thick side. But still it is moisturising enough for my hands.

Now I use this at night before I go to sleep since I won't be touching anything much when I'm sleeping. Downside is that sometimes I forget to set my alarm on my mobile phone before I apply the lotion, which results in my phone's screen becoming oily when I set the alarm after the lotion application.

Vaseline's Healthy Hand and Nail

Price: SGD$4.10 (It used to cost $3.80 when I bought it a few months back, but think the price increased due to the increase of the product's popularity)
Quantity: 100ml
Smell: A pleasant smell for me. Smells a bit like some of the toilet freshener but less pungent.

Bought it because:
It was quite cheap and the size of the bottle is just right to bring along wherever I go.

My verdict: 9 / 10 points

Ever since I started using this product, I had become a convert. The lotion absorbs really fast into my skin, about 30 seconds or less. And the texture of the lotion is a bit watery, quite similar to hand sanitiser gel.

Another feature of it which does not really relate to why I give it such a high score, is that the color of the lotion is a very light pink, rather than the usual white. It's hard for a girl not to like pink. I usually use this after I wash my hand with soaps, since the soaps in a lot of public places are quite drying for the hands.

Like what the product promised, it helps to strengthen my nails too. My nails are now much less prone to breakage and look really healthy.

The cap of the bottle is quite flexible. It opens up easily when you want to use it but it does not open up easily when you throw it into your bag so you do not have to worry about spillage. And the size is just right to carry around. It's width and length is a tad bit smaller than my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone.

The best part of all is that it is cheap, despite the price increase of a few cents.

The only downside is that whenever I apply the hand lotion in crowded places like in the train or bus, it kind of attract people's attention, most probably because of the smell. Though the smell is not pungent or unpleasant (in my opinion), but still it is noticeable for the nearby people.

How a dress transform to a Funky skirt

So I got this green dress from Forever21 a long time ago. The last time that I wore it was during Christmas, two years ago.

It's a very interesting piece but other than wearing it by itself, I couldn't think of any other way to wear it. It was quite a waste not to wear it again since the quality of the dress was quite good. So one day I was going through my wardrobe, my eyes settled on the same dress again.

I thought to myself : 'Why must I wear it as a dress? Why can't I transform it to something else?' And ta-dah, I finally wore the 'dress' again.

The original dress before transformation.

The transformed product : A funky skirt. I did not do any sewing or cutting to it. I simply just bring down the sleeves to create that scallop effect, made the length of the 'skirt' shorter by pulling the excess from the inside to form the ruffles at the waist area.

The skirt in room lighting.

Sorry for this blurred picture. I match the skirt with a simple plain white tee and black leggings so that the emphasis will be on the skirt.

A closer look at the ruffles.

There is 2 ways to wear the skirt. The first way is letting the meeting of the 2 scallops be in the middle.

And the second way is shifting your skirt sideways to let the meeting of the 2 scallops be at the side.

The only downside of this skirt is that, after every visit to the toilet, the ruffles and the scallops will get a bit messed up so you have to re-adjust the skirt to get the same look back again. But it takes me less than a minute to get the re-adjustment done.

Outfit of the Day: Checkered Blouse

This is my outfit for school today. The weather was quite cooling so I could afford to wear a 3/4 sleeve blouse.

The blouse is a little sheer so I added a white tank top as my inner wear. I love the mix of not-over-the-top bright hues of the blouse. Matches the spring season so well though there is no such thing as spring here in Singapore.

(Blouse: SGD$30 from Cotton On. Shorts: Bangkok, Thailand. Leggings: SGD$9.90 from Uniqlo)

There is something so dainty about the knot. Makes the outfit even more stylish-looking.

Basic Tees

I'm a big sucker for quality basic t-shirts. And guess what? Uniqlo, Japan's number one casual wear brand, is having a sale on its basic tees. A variety of colours to choose from for only SGD$9.90 each.

I'm not sure if all the outlets are having the same sale, cause I'd only visited the ones at 'Somerset 313' and 'Causeway Point' shopping centers.

This is just a few of them that I bought. I still have other bright colours like baby pink, yellow and sky blue, which are currently in the washing machine right now.

Living in a tropical country like Singapore, T-shirt is probably every Singaporean's best friend. The one thing that I love about plain t-shirts is the thousand and one ways you can play mix and match with them to make them look not-so-plain.

Below are some of the ways I play mix and match with my t-shirts:

I used to be a person who only like wearing blacks due to image conscious issues, but ever since I found grey clothing to have that slimming magic like blacks do, I'd been stocking up more of them.

Grey is definitely less boring than black (though I still love my blacks). People who stick to solely black can try buying clothes in different shades of grey as a subtle change.

(Vest: SGD$5 from 'Nex' shopping center. Shorts: from Bangkok,Thailand.)

I matched my light grey v-neck tee with a high waist skirt and earth-toned accessories. This is one look I go to whenever I feel girly.

(Skirt and bag: can't remember. Belt: $10 from 'Fareast' shopping center.)

The bright seafoam blue makes the dull grey appears more fun. This kind of colour combination is ideal for girls whose bodies are bottom heavy, like me (I'm pear-shaped).

If figure hugging clothes is not your cup of tea, change the inner wear to a flowy sleeveless dress. Just remember to tie a knot with the t-shirt to create that hour glass look.

(Long tank top dress: SGD$7.90 from Gmarket. Necklace: can't remember)

When I'm lazy, I just jazz things up a little by adding some simple accessories.

(Shorts, leather cuffs and necklace: from Bangkok, Thailand.)

Uniqlo has this beige colour called 'natural' which I'm insanely in love with. It is like a more interesting alternative to white.

The button crew neck shirt I bought comes with an extra button attached to the shirt's washing care label.

There is so many reasons why I love Uniqlo's basics. Firstly is because of it's quality. The cotton material feels soft against on skin and even after repeated wash in the washing machine, there was no balls formed on the shirt.

Second reason for my addicted love is because of the cutting and sharp clean edges which compliments my body shape. Thirdly, the shirt retains it's shape after repeated washes (fyi, I wash them using the washing machine on gentle mode). Fourthly, every piece of cloth from Uniqlo comes with washing care instructions which makes my life so much easier.

And the best part of all, it's cheap. Especially since it is on sales now. After getting such a cheap and good find, I couldn't be bothered with any other basic t-shirts that cost more than SGD$18.

I'm not sure when the sales will end but even without the offer, the t-shirts only cost SGD$16.90 each which is a very reasonable price for such a awesome quality.

Wish everybody luck on landing this amazing deal :)
