So I got this green dress from Forever21 a long time ago. The last time that I wore it was during Christmas, two years ago.
It's a very interesting piece but other than wearing it by itself, I couldn't think of any other way to wear it. It was quite a waste not to wear it again since the quality of the dress was quite good. So one day I was going through my wardrobe, my eyes settled on the same dress again.
I thought to myself : 'Why must I wear it as a dress? Why can't I transform it to something else?' And ta-dah, I finally wore the 'dress' again.
The original dress before transformation.
The transformed product : A funky skirt. I did not do any sewing or cutting to it. I simply just bring down the sleeves to create that scallop effect, made the length of the 'skirt' shorter by pulling the excess from the inside to form the ruffles at the waist area.
The skirt in room lighting.
Sorry for this blurred picture. I match the skirt with a simple plain white tee and black leggings so that the emphasis will be on the skirt.
A closer look at the ruffles.
There is 2 ways to wear the skirt. The first way is letting the meeting of the 2 scallops be in the middle.
And the second way is shifting your skirt sideways to let the meeting of the 2 scallops be at the side.
The only downside of this skirt is that, after every visit to the toilet, the ruffles and the scallops will get a bit messed up so you have to re-adjust the skirt to get the same look back again. But it takes me less than a minute to get the re-adjustment done.
